This guitar is a one-of-a-kind custom, same as every Thorell. It is a variation of the “F.V. Premier”, F.V. being the initials of the great guitarist Frank Vignola. Frank switched from the world renown Benedetto line to Thorell some time ago. This guitar was a gift from Frank to Tommy. Unfortunately the images display only part of Frank’s inscription to Tommy on the Thorell S/N tag inside the guitar body, seen through the oval sound hole.

Ryan arrived at the Fed Ex location in Logan, Utah with a whopping five minutes to spare for the guitar to arrive in time for the start of the world tour.

I took pictures of the 1.5″ thick plank of raw walnut that later became the back of this arch top guitar. The images will be posted at the first opportunity. That chunk of walnut was a beautiful piece to behold. Here it is now in all it’s splendid finished glory.

There was only about ten minutes to take these images while Ryan prepped the carton and case for the guitar to be rushed to Fed Ex.

Who would not appreciate a friend with Frank Vignola’s generosity? I suppose it would help if you flew up and down the fretboard like Tommy (I saw him live in Logon’s fantastic USU Russell Performance Hall.)
